Hi Everyone! I’m new to the forum and fairly new to TX. I fished for stripers and hybrids quite a bit in Georgia growing up (Lake Allatoona and Lanier for those of you familiar with the area). Anyway, don’t have a boat yet but have fished from the bank around lewisville some. So far just a couple cats and spotted bass. I’ve done some research and wanted to ask if anyone familiar with this lake could help me with a couple questions.

1.) Does Lake Lewisville still have a striper population? (From what I can tell the last time they stocked them was 1998)

2.) why don’t they stock true stripers in Lewisville anymore? I know they regularly stock hybrids and those are definitely fun, but I do enjoy fighting a mature striper. There were times on my dad’s boat id forget we were on a lake and it felt more like deep sea fishing when we would have multiple hookups at a time.

I know I likely won’t catch stripers/hybrids consistently from the bank but might want to try with the kayak for them.

Anyway, I’ll keep at the bank fishing for now and maybe venture out to tawakoni at some point.

TPWD stocks hybrids now instead of stripers. I believe that the hybrids survive in Lewisville better than the pure stripers did (don't ask me why).

Get out on the right areas in your kayak and you stand a good shot with them. Maybe try around the old dam cut or the 121 cut if you survive the boat traffic.

I believe TPWD decided to stop stocking lakes with stripers if they won’t reproduce regularly on that particular lake
