I was out in rough conditions the other day and after a long run in which the boat took a beating it is now idling fast. The engine is idling fast enough that it's difficult to shift. I checked all the throttle connections at the engine and nothing looks loose. Any insight here on how to remedy this? I do not have a hot foot, just a traditional throttle. Is it possible the issue is at the shifting/throttle arm at the driver seat? Is there an easy way to fix this idle issue? Any help is greatly appreciated.

check where your control cables are anchored on the motor an make sure the clip that holds them in has not released it.
