My wife wants to take a trip to Fredericksburg sometime around Labor Day.

What's to do? What to avoid? Where to stay/eat?

Thanks.

Z

Museum of the Pacific is good if you're a history buff. There is a joint right in the middle of town that sells all kinds of things like jam, jelly, pickles, salsa etc... that is open for sampling. You can graze there for a long time. There is a German Restaurant in the lower story of a building that used to be the old hospital/morgue that has some of the best sausage you ever tasted. And there is a place east of town that sells peach ice cream.

You gotta go to the Pie Place. One block off of Main.

The Alamo Springs Cafe is just south of town a few miles. May be the best burgers in the state!

Enchanted Rock, but buy your day pass a week or more ahead. It's always sold out.

This is a fact. Also go to SilverCreek there in town. Great outdoor seating area with live music. The pork shank there is out of sight. Trust me.
