Where are you headed in Northern NM? Chama is a favorite of ours.
chama is a great place, used to do the chama river 2-3 times a yr. 3 day trip in canoes. mothers day river races were a hoot too. never got to ride the railroad tho, want to.

We actually took the railroad up halfway (forgot the name of the town) ate lunch and then came back to Chama. Nice ride but long day.

Eagle Nest will be home base. I always wanted to pull off the road in Cimarron Canyon State Park and camp on the river.
