I am new to Fishing Texas waters, I grew up fishing for Trout (Brown, Lake, Rainbow) in Western Nevada & California. However, that was many years ago now and before my short time in the Army. I am looking to relearn basic fishing techniques and how to fish local waters near Fort Worth and west of FW. I live in Weatherford and with that I am not far from a good number of decent Lakes & Ponds. On top of wanting to relearn, I am also looking for new friends who I can socialize with while fishing. I would like to also mention that I do not own a boat nor have I ever fished from one. It would be an experience I would like to enjoy at some point, but I am not in any rush to do so.
Currently Youtube & this forum have been my primary resource for learning, but my best learning style is a hands on approach. Currently I have been fishing the banks of Sunshine Lake, Marine Creek Reservoir & Eagle Mountain Lake with little to no luck of even getting bites.
My catch is I have a newborn (1 month old at time of writing and my first born), so my time is somewhat limited or at least needs to be planned ahead of time.
If anyone is willing to take a novice under their wings and impart a little wisdom, I would be more than grateful. Also please feel free to reading or youtube links that you think are helpful to novices.
Thanks!

Marine Creek for shoreline fishing should be great. Early morning start with top water baits. Then as the bite slows move on to some jigs and spinner baits. full sun try and cast deep off of points with crankbaits. You could always go to the good old Texas Rig, Carolina Rig, wacky rig or live worms. You're in my area maybe one of these days when this virus stuff has passed I could get you out on the boat somewhere close by.

Eagle Mountain probably isn't the best bet for bank fishing, but I agree with Burbarry that you should have some good success at Marine Creek. Try to get out there before everyone else shows up. Truth be told, I haven't bank fished in years so my opinion may not have much validity these days. Congratulations on the newborn! My wife is currently 6 months pregnant so it's not a good idea to extend an invite right now. I am no pro by any means, but send me a message and once the virus business slows down, I will try to get you out on the boat if Burbarry doesn't take ya to school first!

Thank you for the advice on lures for Marine Creek, I will keep that in mind when I head out there.
I agree completely with holding off until the virus is in the past, I am mainly trying to start putting this out there early so I can hopefully have some contacts to head out with in the future.

Bank fishing mineral wells is a great lake as well. They used to rent jon boats. Not sure if they still do.
