Trying to budget for this weekend. Curious, you guys that go down there.. what do you spend on bait right now?

Figure.. one or two boxes of ribbon fish.... some frozen squid and mullet... enough for 2-5 guys to fish.

Maybe some sort of live bait. Only one livewell, so.. can't put shrimp in with any really good bait.. lol.. but, could bring a bucket for over the side.. etc.

Trying to budget what it may cost. Have not bought any recently.

Figure, 1-2 days

I might suggest just calling some of the bait shops in Port A to get a better answer

Called a couple places. Bait is about what I figured

Live shrimp - $18 a qt
Ribbon - $10 a box of like a dozen I think
Frozen squid - like $8 a lb
Frozen mullet - $4 a lb

So, nothing drastic changed.. heh

Got the trailer fixed and reserved a slip... going to brave the crazies during this weekend :P

I think shrimp has been like $18/qt for a few years now. Although since the Gulf is closed all you are likely to find available is going to be bait shrimp. I'll be down this weekend dealing with the crazies also, but Memorial days past the beach is the most crowded part.

Get a cast net and save a little money.

PB flathead 34.5 lbs - I know it's small but it was still the record for Lake Travis when I caught it!
PB Blue 58.5 lbs jugline 43.5 lbs on R&R which was the other Lake Travis record when caught.

Hey River - I plan to do exactly that wink I plan to buy, then augment and I also have a lot of rigs for just bait.. heh

I did not make it down this weekend. Just as I was checking everything out... go figure. I had an update patch for Garmin. I was letting it update, thought, "Hrm, let me check the bilge pumps"... and.. yea.. electrical issue. Tracked it down and the aft bilge pump was seized up.

So, hours later, I had finally pulled the pump and tested it every way from Sunday.. and no saving it.

It was an Attwood 1700 with a float. I am replacing it later today with a Rule 2000 and new float. The wires going to it are 16ga, so all I need to do is upgrade the fuse from 10 to 15 amp and then install the new pump and float.

So, once again, was delayed. My "plan".... yea, is to run water through each and every pump and test them again.

My biggest concern, now, is the gas has been sitting, treated... Ethanol Free, for a year. Not sure what I want to do with it as it is right about 200 gallons so... taking along extra gas filters and water separators on the next trip. I am hoping to run all that gas out. Works out well for the guys as no fuel costs for a few trips.. heh, although I may ask them to kick some on for the first time we have to refill it. If it all works out, I plan to run it as low as I can, then have the gas tanks both pumped out and cleaned. Cheaper to pay that than to pay the cost of the damage afterwards.

We will see, so far.. my plans have sucked.. lol

So, the "plan" is June 5th or.. hell if I know.. lol
