How can anyone know for sure the origin of a frozen block of shrimp? Live shrimp I could understand better, just as exotic species can't be used as bait in freshwater because they could become established.

It's gotten to the point that an angler needs a legal assistant to keep up with all the rules, especially if he/she fishes fresh and saltwater for multiple species!

Never even thought possible.. And as mentioned how would one even know where the frozen shrimp came from?

Buy it at the marina you launch from, they sell frozen gulf shrimp, not imported, like you get at a grocery/sporting goods store

Those are Norton sand eels. In moderately clear water you'll fish circles around live bait with it.

All the people I take out, a lot ask where's the shrimp? Are we going to sling croakers? yadda yadda.

End of the day, I'm never going to use bait again, what a horrible waste of time and money.

It's not a great picture of a 30" trout, but you can rig that eel under a mauler cork and just wear trout out with it, you'll have five before the meat slinger has rebaited for his second hardhead.
