New to Wylie area. Looking for a couple of pointers here on Lavon. Seems like East of island and around island are best spots... Anywhere to check out?
Find any wind blown point or bank. Slab and jig combo.. cast out and bounce back to you.. try different retrieves til you find the speed they want. This technique also applies to bank fishing. Great way to locate fish. If you’re in a boat... thumping=pescados!
With good south wind, the shore line from the island all the way west to the glass house are good at 1st two hrs of daylight in May due to shad spawn. You'll catch.
There quite a few good spots. Check the image below. I used to catch them pretty good on the RSR slabs or minnow. I know that he is out of the gold and silver for the shimmer shads but has made some no slabs with some of the glitter stuff. Just bounce the slab off the bottom when you mark some fish.
I have been out to all of these spots and I can't seem to find nor catch any whites. I am new to fishing and new to Lavon. I have a Lowrance Hook 2-7 with the Tripleshot (ds and si). I am not experienced enough to know what is on my graph. I am learning more and more though. I see what I think are fish suspended and drop down to them, but no bites. All I have are the cheap slabs from the convenience stores. I have the 3/4 oz slab and above that I tied a 1/8 oz jig. Last week I did land a nice 1.32 lb crappie. I want to take my kids out and catch fish and let them enjoy fishing. I have not had any success on the sand bass at these spots. Would any veteran Lavon'ers be able to help? How can I find out more on what they look like on graph? What lures work and what techniques to use when you do find them?
