I'll be down in Galveston starting 5-28-2020. planning on taking my bass boat down to fish out of instead of fishing from the pier at the house were in. looking for info on artificial lures that are working and just a fishing report in general. mostly we will be around the causeway thanks for the help

Look at tide charts for when you'll be there. There are trillions of small shad dying all over the bay...so any tiny swimbait might work (like a mini rattle trap size. Also gulp white mullet.) We were catching schoolie trout yesterday in West Bay on shrimp under a cork...nothing huge.
I'd be leery of running a bass boat in salt water...make sure you wash EVERYTHING down, including flushing your engine, with SaltAway before you head home. Wash the boat daily if you can with fresh water. Also the bay gets rough as hell at times...pick your days

Do you have a galvanized trailer? Very bad idea to put a painted trailer into saltwater. Must be galvanized.

Trailer is sprayed with tuff liner from Ranger. I figured that would fine.

Three weeks after you pull it out of the salt water you’ll start seeing rust marks at seems and corners, and around every bolt or hardware.

Sorry dude, but the instant you stick that trailer in the brine, it's going to have a cancer you can't cure. A channel trailer will take a little longer to self destruct, if it's a tube trailer in six months you'll see it eating itself alive.

My first trailer, an EZ Loader tube type, took years to self destruct ...mainly from the inside out even tho I put fresh water thru it. Funny thing, it had a single HD axle
with brakes that had water hookup to flush the system out......it still corroded quick and I just all the mess off and never replaced them. Way back when I was a young kid, my oldest cousin did something I've never seen anyone do but him. He washed his axle down and backing plate well. Then he applied a heavy layer of regular grease on the entire axle, then wrapped burlap bag material over the whole axle, wired it up so it wouldn't come apart and applied another layer of grease over that. It helped !! I've seen people use a yard water sprinkler that sprays up and over, under their rig to rinse well. Good luck and be safe out there.
