How's the fishing down yonder? We're going with a new guide next weekend and am curious on the bite.

we went down for the day on memorial day. We got on the beach by 9am and were able to drive as far as 20mi down very easily. the surf was very off color i guess because the storm has rolled thru the night before and stirred up the sand a lot and probably put a lot of fresh water in along the coastline. we didn't catch anything and i didn't see anyone catch anything. The kids were pretty focused on swimming though so it was not a real serious fishing effort. i didn't bring any bait, i fished some artificial bait and then i had some sort of preserved mullet that came in a bag from walmart, absolutely not my preference but picked it up just to ensure i'd have something to put on a hook. i had my cast net, i had thought i'd be able to get fresh mullet in the surf pretty easily but with the water color they were either very hard to see or they were very scattered because i saw very few. it was a good trip though.
