...When you don't bring any crappie rods with you. I was striper fishing on Whitney last weekend and scanning some new areas on the way back to the ramp when I saw these trees just covered in fish! They looked like crappie on the graph but they were all so big I wasn't sure. Since all I had was my striper tackle, I dropped a 4" shad down there on a 3/0 circle hook with 20lb line and BAM! got smacked by a 16" black crappie. Every one of those is a 15"+ crappie! I wish I would have taken some more screen shots because it was unreal how many BIG crappie were down there. Never seen so many big crappie in one place. I saw probably 80 or more crappie all that size on side scan.
