My brother and I left Dripp at 4:30 am , Launched at the lake at 7 am. The air was 60 degrees early in the morning, water temp was mid 70’s. We fished a variety of of jigs including hand tied and plastics. I Almost exclusively fish 1/16th oz hand tied jigs. My brother started with 1/8 oz.
We were picking up good fish consistently. We switched to plastics(constant pursuit stumpjumpers)- outfished Hand tied stuff. As it warmed up the fish didn’t want light jigs- we shifted to 1/8 then to 1/4 oz. the faster drop/ more movement was the ticket. Went home with a limit- we kept 11” fish. Most in 12” range. Several in the 13’s”.

Ike- I like to throw as light as I can typically. I wouldn’t normally go heavier unless the wind is picking up, My brother started with 1:8 oz and he started pulling away from me as far as the cooler goes. I went to an 1/8th and plastics. He went to a 1/4 oz (it was hot by this time) and that was the ticket!! I even tried “swinging “ a 1/16th next to the piles, I’ve had good luck doing this when they get sluggish- but they weren’t having that either.

Almost forgot- the channel cats were all over our jigs too!
Sorry, I didn’t take any pics this trip- I’ve been getting bad about that.
