Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's an EMP!

I can't think of any that are in business anymore unfortunately. I used to give "The Fishing Store" in Garland, and "Barlows Tackle" a bunch of money. I wouldn't give squat to Dicks Sporting Goods, Academy is Good and I hit Bass Pro a lot.

Just FYI I think Dick’s Sporting Goods eliminated their fishing departments or at least they did in the Flower Mound store. Might be because there is a well stocked Academy about 1/4 mile away.

I was at the Academy in Longview today and they had absolutely nothing in the fishing section. Everything was picked over and the racks were bare. They've never kept things stocked at that Academy, but today was worse than ever.

Heck, I was in a Super Walmart yesterday, looking for some fishing stuff, and the stock was depleted more than I have ever seen. I got some of what I needed.

Went to get minnows this morning, on the way to go fishing, and they were completely out. They said “everybody is fishing now”.

I stop by Barlows once a month and Fishin World twice a year
Stop by Pond King/Lake Pro Tackle outside Gainesville on the way to Moss Lake twice a year also
All great places that have incredible selections

Lake Pro Tackle has a really impressive selection of everything and has the best worm bar in North Texas
OK, I’ll let the secret out now because I’ve been hoarding, but last time I checked, they still have a decent selection of Kicker Fish baits

If I lived closer to Southwest Parts and Anglers Pro Tackle Id go there also

There isn't many mom and pops shops like Brannons in Powderly anymore.

Sure not many left in the DFW metroplex.

I am hoping that Scheel will have good prices on bass tackle, the place is close to my house and it's huge compared to BPS

Did you just say that scheel is huge compared to bass pro shops?
I’ve never seen one but that’s a huge statement-
I may have to go up there sometime and see this place-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Went to Scheels this weekend. It is 2 stories and has a Ferris wheel inside that must be 75 ft tall.
Lower level is mostly clothes. Upper level is sectioned into hunting , fishing, golf, cooking, and ca candy section.
It really had a poor selection of fishing stuff. Reminded me of Dicks. Their soft plastic selection was weak, they also seemed to be geared for walleye, musky, and small mouth with bright color selections. The line was too long for me to enter the hunting and gun section. It was kind of a disappointment, but I was there with my 3 children and my 5 year old was not having a good day

Woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun....

If Scheels stocks many ice augers, they probably wont be in Texas to long. They didn't do there homework if they are geared towards walleye and muskey down here.

Agreed with all the statements about Scheels. I was super excited about them opening and went during their soft grand opening. Their pricing is through the roof and selection is poor compared to even Dicks. Really disappointing.
