TPWD stocked 30K smallmouths in Whitney on May 12th. Its not alot but it's also not nothing.

I saw a video on facebook of our TPWD district supervisor stocking them.

Excellent news! Seems like a great natural habitat for smallies. Don't know why TPWD would not have already done this or keep doing it in the future.

TPW quit when the GA bloom kept killing all the fish.

I could understand that rationale if algae blooms were happening every year, but itโ€™s been a long time since they happened and no reason to think another one is imminent. So stock away!

We were catchin striper on birds across from McCown in March 2017 and there was a dude fightin a fish on a spinning set up, on the rocks (bass fishin). 4 bay boats all watched from 40-50 yards away or so. Fish jumped 4-5 times. Easily a 5+lb smallie. Dude lost the fish right at the boat. Everyone in the center consoles sighed loudly at the same time. Was kinda funny but felt really bad for the dude. Really nice fish.
