What are you guys using to tow these big monster deep diving crankbaits that run 15 feet or better? I've been trying to find a low profile reel to replace my Quantum Crankin' Reel which is an old high profile design based on the old 1310 MG reel. This reel came with a 3.8:1 ratio and moves about 17 inches of line per turn. Throwing monster cranks on a 7 foot cranking rod is a breeze because you never get tired. I threw big cranks with a 5.4:1 reel and could only do that for about 30 minutes and I'd be wore out. The slowest thing I have found is about 21 inches per turn and 5.4:1. I like the feel of the low profile and frankly when I pick up an old style high profile reel it feels really awkward now that I use the low profile reels for everything else. Anything slower than 5.4:1 out there?

I either use a 6.8.1 or a 6.3.1

Cost effective option. Quantum Monster 300. I think they might be discontinued. Bought a couple when on clearance for under $100. Wish Iā€™d bought a couple more. Great for deep divers and big swimbaits.

I have an old Ambassador 4600 Ci that's a 5:3:1 that was given to me, but damn it's heavy. Haven't tried it for this application but might have to give it a whirl. All my others are 6:2:1 or higher.

The Monster is long gone. I think the lower gear ratio of the two they offered was 6.3:1. They are a tad heavy, but a great choice for big swimbaits as they are built to not blow apart throwing 6 ounce baits. For larger crankbaits, I use the Quantum SHD200PPT that's a 200 size low-profile reel @ 5.3:1. It does have a 100mm handle that helps with a little more leverage. The specs indicate 22 inches per turn, but I bet that is with a slam-full spool (at the end of a retrieve, of course).

I have the 7:1 Monster and I would not recommend it for deep divers, but it does cast heavy baits very well.

I love Shimano Curado HG K 200 for deep cranking a 6XD. This is a 7.4:1 reel and great for crank baits this size or smaller. For a 10XD you might want to go with the Curado K 200 as it has a 6.2:1 ratio and will be less tiresome.

Daiwa Tatula 150 in 5.5:1 or Daiwa Tatula 200 6.3:1 depending on how much line capacity you're wanting

I am moving to the lews super duty wide spool, got 2 in the 6.4 and next will be the 5.1, have 2 revo winch in 5.4 and a curado in 5.0, the lews have a good line capacity and so far are doing the job really well.

I use an Abu Winch 5.4:1 on my deep cranking set up and love it. I also use a older Curado 5:1 200B5 on my other crankbait rod and love it as well. A lot of good options out there.

I have two of the Diawa Tatula 150's in 6.3:1 and love them for cranking deep divers. They have plenty of line capacity for me, but like Monty said if you want more line capaity the 200 is what you want. I like to bomb deep divers into and across the wind and the Diawa's magentic controls are easy to adjust for the conditions.

This is going to hurt me...I'm usually a Diawa guy through and through...but this reel allows me bomb deep crankbaits and reel them back with ease: Shimano SLX DC 150.

I purchased this to get a feel for what the Shimano diehards swear by...now I understand. The reel is exceptionally smooth, casts a country mile, and has the power to pull those cranks with ease.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not changing to Shimano any time soon. But this reel will be my only deep cranking reel for quite some time.

Revo Winch or the Lews BB1 Pro....both in 5.3:1 ratio....love them both for all levels of cranks up to DD22 / 10XD...howver I use an 8ft rod for anything 5xd and higher

I use a Daiwa Crazy Cranker in 4.9.1 for 8 & 10XD's. I use the old blue Revo Winch for Dd22's and 6XD. Seems like the slower geared reels are getting harder to find as everybody wants the higher speeds.
