Guys, there is a fundraiser going on to support Aaron Martens as he works through his recovery from Brain Tumor surgery and his cancer treatments. T Shirts are being sold. Hank Parker and Jimmy Houston are promoting this. https://shop.huckleberryapparel.com/aar ... /shop/home

Kudos to Hank and Jimmy. What bothers me is that Aaron, a top 10 angler, would require a benefit? Maybe being a professional fishermen, even at the highest level, is not that lucrative.

Maybe he chose to run lean and didn't have any health insurance. Some think "Oh, I'm healthy, so I won't need that wasted expense".....and then......

My thoughts exactly. I looked up his earnings and it said 3.6 million career earnings. Figure the taxes on those earnings, travel expenses and entry fees over the years, etc. I'm not sure what kind of sponsorship deals he has. Looks like that career earnings is over atleast 15 years. Not chump change for sure but not what I'd consider rich and even with medical insurance the bill could get pretty high.

Aaron is a great guy. I have spent a couple of days riding with him. He was super nice to me. Very genuine. I am sure he will appreciate any effort to raise money to help him through this. If nothing else to show that he has support. I am going to get a couple. Price is reasonable. They will be good to wear.
Fact is Aaron isn’t likely to ask for anything which is a reason I would want to help out.
Another thing is earning are different when self employed vs getting a pay check. Aaron’s earnings don’t have expenses subtracted. My paycheck has no expenses to be subtracted.

I would imagine the bills before any insurance are 400-500K. What he earns or has earned is not really my business though.

I know this is a stretch but I would hope that his sponsors would help out. He is supported by some really big names: Simms, TH Marine, Mercury, Shimano, Solar Bat, Phoenix, Power Pole, etc.

It’s telling that the real and deserving of the title, legends of the sport are stepping up and doing something for this guy.
Even if he was smart with the money he has earned over the years and had medical insurance, the out of pocket costs for something like this will be overwhelming and could send him and his family into bankruptcy. It’s a shame we’re the only country in the world where that type of thing is a reality and common. Just don’t get sick or have a medical issue... that’s the stance of the political class that’s corrupt to the core.
Where is MLF as an organization, or B. Duckett, or Stan Kroenke? Shouldn’t they have been the ones to stand up and lead on something like this?

The guys are out to help Aaron because Aaron is a good guy. It’s probably not so much if he needs the money or not. I would bet Aaron has been smart with his money. From what I hear his wife runs the business side.
