I am going to be premiering a new video for the first time ever on Sunday. This was a cool trip but unfortunately my spot lock wasn’t working. I tried to use my thumper to pull fish that were actively chasing bait, but they weren’t interested. When they stopped actively feeding and I turned on the thumper, they went nuts and followed my boat from 35’ to 70’! The action was fast and furious! https://youtu.be/y6XmxwWUBQU

The fish are really responding to the thumper now. From now through the fall, fishing should be awesome!

Great video as always. Looking forward to being in the PK area and thumping late next week. Showing the techniques is much appreciated!

Will try to shoot more videos that focus on technique than me simply reeling in fish!

Post spawn stripes are hungry . I too appreciate hands free thumping, spot lock , t-tops , live bait tanks and self deploy and self stow.

Scubaarchery I was under the impression that thumping for striped bass species is more effective in the winter months? When do you see the best results on your trips? Do you thump all year long?

Yes I thump all year long. I think winter deadsticking is a great time (learned that from Wes) but I also thump in the summer time as well. I am not the great graph hunter that other guys / guides are, so I simply find a few fish, thump up a school, see if they bite and if not move on. I use a timer to keep me on track, and my lvescope to figure out what the fish are doing when they see my bait. If no fish in the boat in 10 min, I go make a new school someplace else. I started fishing Texoma last year and probably fished Texoma 20 times, but never really fished more than 4 spots because I never needed to. Generally the fish were in one or more of those spots and I could thump in enough to catch my overs and a few box fish...
