The last few years on Lewisville it seams that there are a few weeks after the spawn, the big crappie seam to disappear. Also, it seams that this corresponds with the shad spawn. I kind of wonder if the big crappie are just up roaming the shallows gorging on the spawning shad. Currently catching great numbers of dinks. This is all I can come up with as to why the keeper to dink ratio is running about 1 out of 10 caught and not a single fish over 12" out of the last couple of hundred caught.

How deep and what type of cover are you fishing? The crappie especially of spawning size tend to have a couple of weeks of not much feeding after the spawn as they are trying to recover. If I was looking for keepers, I would be focusing on shallow wood.

Been fishing rocks , downed timber and brush in 8-20 fow. Finding tons of fish, but no size. Had a large spawned out female about 3 weeks ago and that was last fish over 11". Just a slew of shorts and barely legals since then. Not a live scope guy, so it takes a bit of effort on timber to isolate a tree. May be spooking larger fish?

You may try a different part of the lake. If you are fishing where I think you are, I have a buddy that has been limiting out over there on shallow cover. I don’t think you are spooking larger fish, I just think they aren’t there yet or they are just recovering from the spawn. I would focus on isolated shallow wood. One thing to keep in mind too is that the lake has been a mess lately with the flood and water flow through the lake. The gates are still open and till they close it will mess with the fish.
