Might be looking to go here sometime in the near future. Sister lives in Waxahachie and is wanting to go fishing. Me being from east texas i know absolutely nothing about it. I am assuming there are areas that you can run, and where you can't. I'm guessing it's a largemouth, but i know a few lakes out that way have smallies also. Any help, especially running the lake would be appreciated.

Its a mudhole, you can catch largemouth on the dam though, theres a lake in Waxahatchie called waxachatchie that a much better bass fishery and clearer water with vegetation and a few docks, also close to Bardwell is Clark lake in Ennis clear water and tons of vegetation, lilly pads, milfoil you name it , you would never think its was as close to the mudhole. No Smallmouth either, closest lake that has smallies is probably Grapevine after that is lakes west of IH-35

I fish all three....often. Clark can be fun, Waxahachie has some bigger fish, but Bardwell has schools of 3 pounders. When you find them, it’s a lot of fun.

I have not fished Bardwell in years but when I did it was always a fun lake. Lots of places besides the dam, the center main lake point was fun with a c-rig, the marina held fish, bridge pilings, water inlet channel and the hole over by the dam discharge to mention a few. Also, if you just like catching crappie, white bass and catfish are all options.

This^^^^....there are still quite a few 5-7 pounders off the points too.

Is the lake safe to run, or is there areas that need to come off pad

Bardwell is good for crappie and thats about it. Waxahatchie and Clark are great! and probably quite a few here that would rather them not be mentioned

Clark has been hammered pretty hard the last couple months. That lake is way too small for the amount of pressure it's been getting.
On Bardwell, the cove with the marina on the southwest corner of the lake is pretty good. The lake seems pretty clear and safe to run south of the 34 bridge. Bardwell doesn't see as many bass anglers as most lakes. The fish there certainly seem easier to catch.

If you’re in Waxahachie maybe think about running over to Richland Chambers or Navarro mills.

Lake Waxahachie get's pounded! More now since the Covid-19 scare. There's a tournament there every Thursday, but the lake is much too small for tournaments. You catch mainly small bass. There's a few better ones in the spring, but few and far between. Clark is your best bet.
