I have one like the OP’s wide brim version. The brim does flop around when I’m going over about 20mph. Lost a couple of hats till I got this one with the chinstrap (cord? Whatever).

These are pricey but it has a nice bill and ear/neck protection.

I am thinking about trying one of these for my wife and I but haven't yet.

I wear a baseball cap with a buff around my neck and (sometimes pulled up) a hooded HUK ICON long sleeved shirt. cheers

Keeps the rain off, keeps the sun out, mosquitoes can’t bite through top, and best for carrying my kayak on my head. Had the same hat for 7 years until I wore the material through on top from carrying. Has the chin strap if it gets windy and wuhan proof.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Found these on Facebook. Took a flyer on them. Loved the hat so much I bought the gloves and face mask.

Great hat. Don’t want for anything more.

Look like good quality sun protection gear going to look at it pretty hard for sure.

When we go down to Mexico where that sun seems more brutal, a Tilley is hard to beat.

I do have some of those Simms Gaiters that combined with a baseball cap are really good.

I used to wear a lot of Buffs but the Gaiter seems to stay put better and have breathing holes.

As far as hats go..... Tilley all the way.

Two things I don't like about it: catches wind like a kite, too much floppy brim.
I'm thinking of trying out the Gilligan look now:

So, what's your favorite kind of hat for fishing, for those who are conscious of sun protection factor, comfort, and whatever?

I just got one like your top pic. I wear it when I fish, mow, give kicking/punting lessons, walking properties. My ears would be toast all the time, This thing is great my ears don't hurt my face isn't red all the time and I just generally feel cooler. I didn't know what I was missing all these years.

My Uncle (Sam) gave me a hat like this before one of the trips he sent me on to a sunny spot in the Middle East (I actually did a little carp fishing while I was there). It's my official kayak fishing hat because- it was free, it keeps the sun off my face, neck and ears, and it covers my bald spot.

I got me one of these. Burned twice last year & already once already this year even with sunscreen. Folds nicely to store in my tacklebag, lightweight, cool. Good enough for Mr. Clunn, good enough for me. thumb

I have the plain original Sunday Afternoons adventure hat and it's currently my favorite for sun protection. If I was buying a new one, I'd get the Ultra Adventure Storm Hat. It's waterproof but breathable.

Pricey indeed but I'm going to order one. Love my PFG booney hats BUT I cannot put up with the flopping brim when it gets windy...and as y'all know, it's windy quite a lot in north Texas.

I end up taking off the booney hat and just wearing a baseball cap which does not provide the coverage from the sun that I would prefer for my neck and ears.

I'm gonna splurge as it's a safety item and try one of these.
