 Wade fishing Fork?

Anybody know of anywhere I could dip into Lake Fork to wade fish and actually be successful? I left my boat in Florida when I moved and want to get on some big water pretty bad. I live close to Waxahachie and DFW so if anybody knows of any wader friendly lakes or spots near me would also help. Hope to hear from you guys. Thanks

Since a lot of em will be moving out towards deeper water I'd start with main lake points. Big Mustang, Little Mustang, Williams are accessible and several others as well. My concern for wade fishing would be the bottom composition. Muddy and very mucky in lots of places. You might get stuck!! Good luck!

My first duck hunting trip to the lake I made 3 steps before punching a hole in my new waders. That lake is tough on equipment in all aspects! But seriously I wouldn’t hesitate. Good luck!

ive done it. IT wasn't a big deal. We just jumped main lake points and ramps when I was younger. I actually did pretty good. Also we fished the grass lines if you can get to them.

Jumping ramp to ramp and main lake points was kinda what I was thinking of trying. Used to do it on Kentucky lake when I was in the Army up there with pretty good success. Well when I finally make it up there and try it I’ll certainly post a report. Been living here in Ellis county since September now and chomping at the bit to get on Fork.

I have caught a bunch of very nice fish bank fishing at the bridge there in Williams Creek in the spring. There are a lot of places you can bank fish. A kayak or little buster boat is not needed but will let you be a little more mobil and won't break the bank. You can find little pond hopper style boats used with a TM on occasion for less than $500 total. Before I finally bought a big boat, I bass fished many of the big lakes,(Toledo, Fork, Rayburn, Roberts, etc..) from my 8ft. Pond Hopper that I had rigged with two batteries for all day fishing and a small TM. Get after them and let us know how you do!

I agree...I wore out 2 plastic 2 man boats before mvoing up to a small Skeeter bass boat. They are great as long as you stay out of big winds. We would just put in near where we would fish or at least would not ventue much more than one mile or so. We fished Fork out of one for years with lots of success and had tons of fun.

Points hold fish as well as some still on beds.

Definitely wear wading shoes. Any ramp will have some access. Around the bridges will have some too. Try around the marinas. These will mostly be bank fishing spots and wading may or may not make a difference. I’ve often thought about it myself but anytime I see an area I’d like to wade fish, it’s only accessible by boat.

Thanks for all the info! I think my son and I are gonna take a whole weekend and just go drive around out there. We live in red oak in the DFW area and have never been out there
