So here is a question i cannot get figured out...

The dam at joe pool has a crazy amount of foot traffic and bikers basically every day I fish- 4-5 times a week. Never has really dawned on me until today, first time I put in at Lynn Creek Park. That trail is closed? Or is it not? The gate is shut and says keep off dam but people have been using it solid even before covid craziness. I am also curious because a group of guys walked about halfway out to one of the points off the dam and spread out on the bank and it got me thinking if they could legally even do that... not that I give a [censored], I really am just curious

I have seen people for years jogging or bike riding on top of the dam on the trail. I never looked at the trail so couldn't tell you but I don't think that they are suppose to be climbing down the rocks to fish. Almost no game warden or police ever seem to patrol the lake so I guess they just do what they want to do. I have probably seen the police on the water twice in 5 years and one of those times was searching for a body.

My boats at Lynn Creek so I fish there all the time. Fire Dept. has a boat at the end of my dock. Rarely are they out. I've seen the Grand Prairie police on the lake 1-2x in 5 years besides when there is a drowning. Never once have I seen a game warden. I've never been puled over, etc... They should be checking boats leaving party cove for drunks on Sat/Sun evening but I've never seen this happen either.

Lived in Cedar Hill right above the lake for many years before moving out to Glen Rose area. We used to utilize the “trail” that is the concrete path on the top of the dam. We always accessed it from the east end((Cedar Hill side off 1382). The rules are(were) bikes, rollerblades, walkers, joggers....on the pathway only. Anywhere but the road was trespassing(but who cares if someone wants to bank fishing). Guessing the gate on that end is still open?

Just be glad you have a boat and don’t have to walk all that way to wet a line. Lol

The dam IS closed to all traffic, bike and foot, due to construction work the corp had going on the damn. It is the Corps to monitor and police. They just don't very often....

I don’t think I’ve ever seen people fishing the damn from the bank. I go out there quite a bit sometimes but extremely rare for me to go on the weekend so that maybe why. I was out there today and the lake is packed. Guys fishing everywhere.
