For Mother's Day, fix her this and she'll love it - and if not, everybody else will! We've used other beans: B&M Brick Oven, Heinz, even Van Camps in a pinch. Side dish that will get attacked like a main meal.

Looking good and if I can pick up old fashion cane syrup, gonna give it a shot. Thanks and may y'all have a healthy Mom's Day.

Looking good and if I can pick up old fashion cane syrup, gonna give it a shot. Thanks and may y'all have a healthy Mom's Day. Let me give you an address (disclaimer: I don't know "Marlon Farmer" so if you mention my name it won't do any good whatsoever): Marlon Farmer - Old Timey Ribbon Cane Syrup (40 oz Jar (2 lb 8oz) - Ingredients: Cane Juice - Phone 256 - 424 - 3852 - P.O. Box 1542 Scottsboro, AL 35768. We look for this now, as good as it gets. I hope he could get it to you somehow. Hope you and your family have fun eating those beans - they're an easy win win (especially with the kids).

Looks good. I’d add a couple strips of bacon on top.

Looks good. I’d add a couple strips of bacon on top. Yep - impossible to go wrong with that. With other canned beans I would say your observation would be mandatory, since the "country style" is all about having bacon in it. We have done it with the BBQ style and that works well with grilled food. Others have used those cocktail smokies instead of hot dogs with great success. I've not done it that way since the dogs are pretty much expected. The only thing that doesn't work for us: forget to add the cane syrup. Then it's flat.

If you don’t have cane syrup, you can substitute dark brown sugar, molasses, dark Karo syrup, even maple syrup or Log Cabin. For a treat, add a little whiskey.

Grandma's molasses, sauteed onion and bell pepper, some garlic, and chopped bacon. Drain the above beans and add to the onions, bacon, bell pepper, and garlic. Add Stubb's regular BBQ sauce, Woody's Cookin Sauce. Catchup and brown sugar is also an option, but not necessary. If you're doing smoked pork shoulder, very finely chop some and add it in. Simmer until you get the thickness you want. Use your own amounts of ingredients.

On mine we do but like it thick (with a qualifier) - the full directions: Best Baked Beanie Weenies AKA Franks & Beans Recipe Ingredients & Directions: You need - 2 28 oz cans Bush's Country Style Baked Beans (B&M Brick Oven Baked Beans & Others Work Too) 5 Nathan's Beef hot dogs - cut these thick as shown, 3/4 cup Cane Syrup, 1/2 large onion chopped Directions: Spray bowl with nonstick oil. Mix all ingredients in your bowl and bake 350º 2 hours - stir last hour to prevent sticking as/if needed. After the first hour it's going to be bubbling good, and you can cook it to whatever consistency you like. No matter what - you'll like it and the variations above too - impossible to go wrong with this. Happy eating!

Once in awhile you get a pleasant surprise. We were in an Aldi's and I decided to try out their store brand beans: ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/08/full-113787-63196-dakota_s_pride_original_baked_beans_28_oz_865478848079_13441929412697_720x.png) Wow! Were they ever good done this way. Added a BBQ effect that I hadn't expected and I would recommend them as strong as any of the "named" brands now.

I do those every now and then using pretty much the same recipe except I add a dollop of yellow mustard and about a tablespoon of Worcester sauce.
