I’m running an HDS12 GEN3 at the console which is running off the above transducer. My side-imaging isn’t working properly and noticed the plug on the transducer cable will plug into the port, but the “collar” above the actual plug will not lock. With little force, the collar will continusly turn. It won’t lock into the port on the unit. Is this the reason the side-imaging function on the unit won’t work properly or is it a possibly a defective transducer? Any troubleshooting tips or experience with this would be helpful and thanks in advance.

I assume you have checked all the pins to make sure none are bent or broken. If you can hold the in place and side scan still does not work, the transducer may have gone bad. The Total Scan is a better technology replacement for the HDS Gen-3 units. However you don't want to replace transducer and have the same issue due to something else causing an issue. You can reset the sonar settings which also reset structure scan to make sure you have not changed something that has caused the issue. To reset sonar: PAGES - SETTINGS - SONAR - in the middle find RESET SONAR DEFAULTS or RESET FISHING MODE & see if that helps. FYI the latest software update is 18.2. ALSO: Make sure you are running the LSS2 on 455kHz. The technology in the LSS2 does not do well at 800.

I would make sure your collar locks in first. After that make sure your voltage is good at the HDS. My font HDS I had to upgrade the wire ran upto the front. It’s now 8 gauge to the front unit. No more issues with that unit cutting in and out.
