Even though it’s Thursday, it was humpday for a while this morning at Canyon. Those familiar with the lake know the major hump NW of Cranes Mill Park. I have had luck there before, and today I caught 3 lmb and even a snagged catfish—and I never fish for cats. All bites were on chart 1/2 oz. chart maribou roadrunner with no added tail. After 30 minutes, the wind picked up, and the bite stopped, no matter what else I threw. A 3/8 oz. white RR with a white fluke added got no bites all morning. I left the water around 1 with no letup in the wind.

The wind just kept getting higher here. Good report.

How crowded was the lake and where did you put in. Been thinking of hitting Canyon in the middle of the week to avoid the crowds.

Does anyone know if Potters Creek Boat Launch (#21) opened yet? Road where you turn to go to boat launch was closed for maintenance road repairs also. frown

Not crowded at all. Maybe ten other boats west of CMM. Those I saw were all polite and friendly, as they almost always are early on a weekday. A welcome relief from the obnoxious jerks over the weekend. 🤣

Early, yes. I wish I had hit the hump at daybreak. Didn’t get there till after 8. I think in timbers and upriver, you could still have nice 6-8 hour stays on the water. In the main lake areas, I would forget any attempts after noonish.

The back of Toms creek has so many trees that the ski boats can’t disturb you back there. (When it gets busy)

Went up the river today. Fished the rock ledges and the brush. Only had a few strikes nothing to exciting. Was off the water by 12. Put in at ramp 8.

Good point. Glad they finally removed the Cessna. It was a real tourist trap. Never saw so many boats back there dodging stumps....

After I read and saw it on the news, my immediate thought was glad they were okay, and they probably didn't have a choice on where to put the plane down, but that was the worst cove on the lake because of all the trees and stumps. That pilot had to thread the needle!

Just one more cast!

I saw the plane on the news, but never read where it had landed. I thought it was closer to the dam area, lucky pilot that he didn’t get into those big cypress trees!

Divers floated the plane, towed it to the ramp, pulled it out and off to a warehouse for insurance inspection.

Last week I posted pictures on my Facebook page of the process, and yes very lucky with all the trees at Ramp #6.
