To do an on the vehicle injector cleaning, the fuel pump must be disabled. On my 2012 Chevy 5.3, there is no fuel pump relay or fuse. How is it disabled?

It has a fuel pump module. There should be a fuel pump control module fuse that you can pull to disable the fuel pump!

If you kill the power to the module won't the ECM not have communication and not let the truck start? After giving it a lot of thought, I am going to replace the fuel pump as preventative maintenance. I will clean the injectors when I do that. I'll just leave the fuel pump unplugged at the tank.

The PCM still should communicate... All modules communicate with each other thru a can bus... It shouldn't do anything but kill the fuel pump.. Truck should start..

Looked in both fuse boxes, no fuse marked for fuel pump, or fuel pump module. There is only an empty fuse slot and empty relay socket. Not sure what GM did on this model.

Update.... the cleaning kit I ordered comes with a fitting to connect the fuel pump line to the return line so the pump simply circulate. No need to kill the pump.

Id just dump a can of seafoam in the fuel tank and drive it. This. X 3 This may sound crazy but years ago I paid the extra at the pump for the injector cleaner at a Murphy station and my truck ran really great after that, I started doing it once a year. I need to do it again, not sure if it is still available. Almost 200,000 on the truck and only did a water pump and timing belt (at recommended time) and changed the plugs once...besides regular oil changes.

Id just dump a can of seafoam in the fuel tank and drive it. I prefer doing it the best way and not waste my time and money.

You do you, but a can of sea foam for $6-7 and a routine fill up is all you need. I don't have extra time and lots of other things I can blow the $$$ on without being buried with it.
