Been good, topwater bite alive, lots of boats on water. Find the grass fish will be there.

Made the trip last week to Amistad. Caught my first Texas smallmouth ever. Then ended up catching more smallmouths than largemouths. Go figure! My son and I probably had 20-30 fish per day. Mainly fished in and around Rough Canyon Marina.

what kind of baits were you using? Did you find any grass up that way? Thanks in advance for the information!

Caught the majority of them on chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and a squarebill. 1-20 foot depth. Didn't see any grass though. Best spot for us was the main point off the river just to the south of the marina.

thanks for the info. I was there in March and we found grass at bouy 17 and 18 on the mexico side.

theres a kiosk machine at Diablo East by the restrooms at the top of the hill. We only fish 2 or 3 days so I buy a $10 permit and put the receipt in my wallet in case I get checked. I assume that is still running!
