I am thinking about switching to Progressive for boat insurance.

Any opinions of the company and their practices?

TIA

I've had them for the past 4 years. Haven't had to file any claims but I do have roadside through them and have had to have the boat towed after I had a leaf spring blow out on the freeway. Also I have an agreed upon value policy which not all insurers offer for used boats, most require an actual cash value policy which includes large amounts of depreciation. I'm happy with the service so far.

I use Progressive. They're inexpensive and no claims in 15 years. Having said that I am going to investigate this guy when my policy expires as he is a bass boat specialist :

If you don't need to file claims they are great just don't hit a stump if you go with Progressive they rarely cover the cost

Soros owns Progressive. I would never do business with them. Just keeping it real. I got mine through Farmer's who handles my home and autos. Very competitive. They do outsource it but it was very reasonable.

I've got them as well but only because that is who USAA uses. Once I did the setup with USAA, its been direct with Progressive ever since. Never had a claim but given what some others have said above I may look to go elsewhere when this year's policy is up.

I have had great experience with them, and had a 12k claim too. They handled it without issue. And my rates did not go up.

Have had Progressive for quite a few years. They have been nothing short of great during a handful of claims. Always fast to get an adjustor out, more than fair on what they pay for and I have had a check in my hand usually 24-48hrs after contacting them. Not one single complaint here. My rates have not went up after a claim either. I was talked into transferring to some "cheaper" insurance this past year. I need to renew next month. I will be back with Progressive. I have not had a claim with new company but just getting in touch with them has been a nightmare. I cannot imagine how it would be if I needed a claim. I will be back with Progressive soon.

Exactly... Had them for 7 years with no claims. Then had to fight them when I hit a stump. Took 4 months before it was finally approved to get fixed. Dropped them as soon as my lower unit was replaced.

Hit a stump. Tore up prop and lower unit. Not a problem with them fixing any of it and was quick.

I got progressive thru usaa when I bought my boat. They are high but I have had two claims (two lower units destroyed) called them from the ramp and by the time I got home they had an adjuster calling me for an appointment. Great service.

Still learning not to drive the boat thru stump fields.
