When did BASS enact the rule you could no longer buy info/waypoints from Locals for a tourney? What year/month-year? Thanks

Start of 2018 season, it was determined in 2017 though That's when the no info rule became stricter. I think it might have been against the rules to purchase information earlier than that. I think the stricter rules came about after a 2017 interview with rookie (at the time) with Jessie Tecorante on Bass Edge, where he was talking about the business opportunities and focused on how to grow his brands. Then when asked how he was going to fish all these new kinds of fisheries he just said he had a network of pro staff and he would just call them up and get the run down on the lake with spots and techniques and flatten his learning curve. For reference listen here at the 19:30 mark. https://bassedge.com/the-edge-episode-244-jesse-tacoronte/

I got contacted for both Sabine river events by 2 different elite guys still on tour today. I'm not even a real local so I can imagine some of the guys got lots of calls. One offered some free tackle the other just said thanks.
Also, I remember Ben Matsubu telling us way back that the reason he couldn't stay on tour was because of the amount of information bought and or given up by locals to the top guys. It just wasn't his thing. He wanted to fish against the same info and he didn't want to be one of those guys.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Back in 2008 (if I remember correctly) the newbies were in awe of the pros because of their ability to break down an 80,000 acre lake like Falcon in a few practice days, resulting in many of them (including winner Paul Elias) zeroing in on the bass on a small ridge totaling maybe 10 acres out of 80,000. LOL

Them that don't know him won't like him. And them that do sometimes won't know how to take him.
