Okay guys, looking at the weather. You guys that fish it much, what are your thoughts on it? 20mph winds and the effect on waves? I get it, waiting for the "perfect day" and you will never get to fish, but trying to factor what to expect out there and, frankly, been a while since I was out there.

As we get closer to the weekend, can folks give their take on the weather and waves?

Thanks

R

Reports are calling for 3 foot seas calming to 2 foot by the weekend (preliminarily). That and consistent 15-20 mph winds is going to make offshore and beach fishing this week pretty rough. May be doable this weekend depending on your vessel, but my expectation is that water clarity is going to be poor in close and anyone who ventures out will likely be a little sore the next day. Due to the conditions having been like this and the lack of ability for people to get on the water in recent weeks I surmise that the fishing will be better than average though.

I suspect the weather will be a little more rough than I care to try, however... debating going down on Saturday and fishing Sunday. The weather looks to clear that day and be nice and calm, albeit it may push out and ruin that too heh.. we will see. Should know more in the next day or so.

NOAA says 5'-7' with occasional 9' on Saturday. Surf site says swells Sunday are 5'-6'. Very rough weekend. Probably better saving your trips for better weather unless you just want to shake the boat down inshore.

Totally agree.. looks crappy out there. The plan is.. hope.. is I should say.. that Sunday looks better. We are debating either cancelling or simply going down late on Saturday and staying at the dock and going out Sunday morning....but, will still be wet out there.. or.. go out early on Sunday and not stay at the dock overnight.. who the hell knows

I just want to get out there, heh.. but not in those kind of waves

Well, we are closer. Weather seems "okay" on Sunday. Don't think I will ever find a "perfect day" on purpose heh.. but, anything could happen.

hey @Stanley Orchard - what reports are you seeing? I am looking at no less than 5 different ones and they are all over the place heh.

One has it bad, another has it at like 3ft waves, clearing later in the day on Sunday.

I know Saturday is horrible, trying to see if Sunday will be doable.

I'm looking at MagicSeaweed and Surfline for their surf reports. What's 'doable' is obviously in the eye of the beholder (and the quality of their vessel) but I value what's left of my knees to much to consider the Sunday report doable lol. If you get out though good luck! There's fish to be caught!

ok, MagicSeaweed shows mostly 2-3ft for Sunday. For a Grady, that is not bad.. heh

Might be fine for this boat... on any given day, 5ft is rough.

Don't look at the surf graphical report on MagicSeaweed. Look at the swell predictons that are reported for each day as you scroll down. Sunday is predicted to be 5' at 6 sec. That is ROUGH.
