growing up working cows with my dad and buddies , i was always the smallest. So , I would get to climb in the chute and pull the tail straight back over their spine. This would supposedly to keep them from kicking. Dad;s buddy would come in the back with the clamps and state that if that calf kicked him, I would be the next clamped. I durn near pulled some tails out by the roots.

Some people crack me up. Oh and ear tags can get ripped out, and that’s an even bigger mess. Branding is simply the best and most expedient way to get it done and over with. It’s hot, hard, dangerous work.

I won't get into the details here but by the time he got through it looked like he had been on a 3 day killing spree with a butcher knife. It will make an impression on you! LOL
