Have a friend that says I can keep my boat 2019 skeeter, in his covered boat slip. What are the pros and cons of leaving boat in the water through the summer.

Pros: Super awesome to just go out to your boat, crank it up and take off

Cons: theft and gunk on the bottom if left for a long tome.

And spider webs. OMG...had my boat in a slip on Lewisville a few years ago. Had to use the vacuum cleaner to get the spider webs out of it every time I wanted to use it.

And the inside of the boat just feels grimy.

The real question is: "Compared to what?" If you have to tow a long way and fight for a space in the launch ramp line, I'd go for it.

If it's tow a couple miles and launch at a private or not crowded ramp, probably not.

Having the boat at home is nice. Always some tinkering you need or want to do. Easy to take care of the batteries, etc.

Of course, you need to consider security.

I live on a private lake, and have a small bass boat in my dock. It's nice to walk to the lake and go fishing. The bottom is crudded up, but It's a small lake and I only idle anyway. I use a broom on the spider webs.

Eagle mountain lake. Small creek. Will take it out so often to go ray Roberts or fork but don’t want it to cause damage I’d regret. All compartment have locks.

The compartment locks are a joke...anyone with 2-3 minutes and a screwdriver can pop them loose.

I'd take my valuables out and leave it on the lake if the spot and situation was good.

The hull will get blisters after several months if you don’t use a hydrohoist or something similar to get it up out of the water.

If there is not a good boat lift don’t do it.

I have a place on Conroe with a covered lift. I pay for storage due to the previously mentioned issues (spiders, spiders [censored], sun hitting the back even though I put a cover on it, and the possibility of theft (I never left my rods/reels in boat). My wife started renting the place and I moved it to a storage facility. I have to store the trailer anyhow so just store the boat also. It is nice to go out step in your boat and go though. I would pull my boat every couple of weeks to go to a better lake and usually wash it before putting it back on lift. If the boat is on a lift then it makes sense but if it is sitting in the water I would not do it.

And rats, I had mine in a marina for a few months while I repaired and repainted my trailer, rat got in their and destroyed the wiring and chewed a pancake size hole in the carpet in one of the rod lockers and made a nest with it in another part of the boat mad

THIS ^ ^ ^

Don't leave any boat in the water that you care about. At least for any period of time. A couple of weeks may be OK. And then there's the scum line that will be there ........

Healed by Grace and trying to stay that way

I have my center console at Pool but have it on a lift. And I cover it to keep it clean. Biggest issue is the damn birds. Even though the slip is covered the birds get up in there and poop all over everything. Cover keeps it clean and keeps people from wanting to steal. Too many boats that don't have a cover. If you do leave it for a few days get some plastic snakes to put out to scare the birds away.
