I know some guys here know their Champions, what year models were built with balsa wood in the transoms?

in 03 they went to composite/no wood, prior to that it was a layered fiberglass/fir transom. on my second one, 95 202, first was an 82 184. great boats. current 202

You can also join Champion Boat Owners n Facebook. Excellent source for all things Champion. Best bass boats ever made IMO. And danged sure the best rough water bass boats made.

Kiln dried Douglas Fir/glass/gel laminate until around 98. Around 98 they switched to Baltic/glass/gel laminate. When they moved em from Mt. Home to Tenn they began composite. The Baltic core is the least desired as it's more difficult to dry out if water intrusion happens. If it's not caught in time it turns into saw dust.
I love the smell of two stroke in the morning.
