Nope with the covid crowds lakes got hammered during the second half of the spawn this year and will continued to get hammerd by the meat hunters in the following months. Randy Blaukat was on a podcast back in april and said he guesses it will take our lakes a couple years to recover from the pressure they are seeing right now if things go back to normal.

After things go back to normal it could maybe happen at Ivie if it fills up, maybe Choke too if it filled up but I think so many more people have moved into San Antonio area it probably gets too much pressure now.

I don’t think it will happen any time soon or at all it takes the right set up for a fish to get that big.

All I'm saying is if we have to Google the last 16 pounder why are we talking about the odds of the next 18 pounder?

That don't stop me from dreaming and believing though Ken! I would love to break the state record along with most every other angler.

reviewing Texas top ten, the list has not changed since 1997 (16.77). Need to look at number of Share a Lunker (13 pounds plus) listed the previous ten year, see if a trend emerges in rate of big bass caught. It seems Texas has seen more 13 plus caught this year than previous years. I don't have the data backing this statement. If more 13, 14, 15 pounders have been caught it supports the fishery health and potential of a 16.77 or even an 18.20.

Define “near future”. Simple answer is not very likely.

Eat. Sleep. Fish.
