Neighbor Patrick and I went for a morning run on Cedar Creek Lake, which is about 60 miles SE of Dallas. We were out from 10 to 11:45 AM - shorter than we expected for a good reason - we limited out on white bass, and we were keeping them to give to family and friends. Much of the lake is stained from the spring rains, but the Clear Creek Fork is living up to its name and remaining considerably clearer than the rest of the lake. Starting from Saint Annes Point we headed east along the north shoreline. Our 1st place to check was Swing-set Hump, and as we approached it we saw a boat there with 3 folks in it and one was landing a hybrid. We eased around the hump staying a good distance from the other boat. We made a full circle around the boat but didn't see any fish - guess they only were where the boat was. So, I proceeded to check East Hump and Flag-pole Point and nothing there. Kept going east to 60 Acre Hump and found some there. We caught about 15 there in 45 minutes, including a 20 inch hybrid and had another large hybrid pull off.

That bite slowed, so we headed to Number 13 Hump on the east side of Hwy 198 bridge. My skeeter center console was barely able to get under the bridge - 4 inches clearance. Couldn't have done it on a choppy day. As we eased over #13 we saw fish on the west slope and on side-scan to the north. So, we spot-locked and the catching was on. We were both casting #4 Mepps silver plain Aglia spinners and catching fish almost every cast. We stopped when white bass count got to 50. As we neared our limit a curious boat (man and wife) approached, stopped at a distance and watched us. We invited them to come fish the hump. As we left, we pulled over to them and showed them what we were catching them with. Hope they caught some. Here are some pics of the trip:

Great report Dennis! I have a house on the other side of that bridge and a pontoon boat. Needless to say, I haven't been on that side of the bridge. smile I need to get together with you some day and have you show me the ropes. Thanks for your constant willingness to share information and techniques! It is very appreciated. thumb

Dennis,

Because of your willingness to share your info you made me and my sonโ€™s day. We fished number 13 hump and had a great day. Started slow but the bite progressed by 10 am. Found all fish sitting in 25โ€™ throwing up to 20โ€™ and doing your mepps technique but with a 7/8 oz war eagle white slab I pick up a Walmart. I cannot for the life of me get your technique down. I must have caught over 50 whites, 1 legal hybrid, and 2 catfish to boot. My son is 3 1/2 and would throw his little zebco 33 micro with a spoon on it and let it go all the way down and jig it up. He must of caught 5-6 doing that. It was his first time catching and he loved it! Pics of the graph and what I was throwing. Tight lines everyone.

Glad I could help. Slabs are great for white bass ready to bite. I was out yesterday on Richland Chambers, and a fellow angler was killing them on a slab.
