Someone posted a you tube link on how to tie a loop knot,
The video had a tip on glueing plastic body. I cannot find the video now, maybe someone can repost.
Basically, you wrap the hook shank with dental floss, apply super glue, then thread on the plastic body,
The bond is really strong. Much stronger than glueing to a bare hook shank..

No more barbed jig heads for me, no more plastic bodies pulled down ,

I wish I could give credit to the gentleman on the video. , I just canโ€™t find it this morning. [Linked Image]

Certainly helps to have a vise. [Linked Image]

Good luck

Ps. I used unwaxed floss.

I imagine jig tying thread would work..

I think it was Richard Gene the fishing machine on YouTube. It looks cool. Iโ€™m not sure I want to spend that much time working on them.

The problem you are going to have with making a bunch of those up for future use is that the paint and the plastic body are going to react with each other over time softening the paint and making a gooey mess. If you make up enough for a day or so you will probably be fine but I dang sure wouldn't make up more than a weeks worth.

Powder coated heads. , not paint. , I have some that were just glued to the shank that have been in a box for a couple of years.
No problem.

Your mileage may vary. , ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

This seems like a lot more trouble than just using jigheads with a keeper on them.

Takes about 2 minutes if you use round heads with no barb. I use naked jigs so there is no paint. The biggest advantage is that the plastic will rarely pull away from the head even if you get the jig hung up in brush and certainly not from catching fish. I caught about a 5 lb, channel cat last week on a crappie jig and the plastic was chewed all to heck by the time I got him off the hook but the plastic was still fastened solidly to the jig head.

I just make up a few in different sizes when I am setting out in the yard doing nothing else.

Using glue on Bobby Garlands makes a big difference in how long they last

Seems strange but I ordered 100 Jigheads and they came with collared barbs. I mashed them down with needle nose piers and superglue my plastic on.

Couple of things, i use superglue gel and scrap the lead collar with a knife until its shiny before glueing. I caught at least 100 crappie one day this week and used 2 Jigheads.

Try and glue the Jighead at least one hour before you start fishing with it.

The advantage of fishing soft plastics over hand tied jigs is, they can be Weedless.

I fish bamboo brushpiles 90% of the time. Weedless Jigheads allow me to catch crappie way down inside the brushpile without worries.

Suggestion
no-barb jig heads from Ebay and the following:
24g coated wire
pliers and wire cutter

[Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Hold a small length of coated wire with the jig shaft :

Wrap one side of the wire around once:

Cut one side close to the shaft and bend tight with needle nose pliers:

Bend the other end into an L shape:

Add any soft plastic lure and secure it. IT WON'T COME OFF!
[Linked Image]

All of my ballhead jigs have soft plastic wire holders

Using the above does not damage the lure when removed which can be used again. Today I used the wire keeper on a 1/64 oz jig head and Trout Magnet 1.5" grub. Caught 10 fish in my pond.
