Yes, I know I missed out on the 40% sale...and NO this isn't meant to start a long thread comparing all brands of rods. I like Dobyns and need a good worm rod. I want a 7ft rod. The 704 and 705 are top options. I primarily fish a 3/8oz weight with a 3/0 hook and a baby brushhog (or similar)...so total weight will get close to 1/2 ounce. I might throw a 1/4 ounce weight but I will rarely go heavier than 3/8 ounce. I flip around boat docks and timber 80% of the time so the 7ft length is a little easier to handle than a 7'2 or 7'3. For you Dobyns guys which rod is best? Will the 705 be too heavy to throw a lighter t-rig??

I love the 703’s for senkos and 3/8 oz t-rig and the 704 for 1/2 oz t-rig. I like a little more give in my rod so I don’t use the 705.
If you can't find em wind em.

For what you described I would opt for the 704, that 703 is great for flukes and weightless senkos. Good luck.

I also vote for the 704. Should be perfect for what you are describing.

I have a 704 and I mainly use it for Tx rigged worms and lizards. Great rod with enough backbone to handle some big fish. I think you'll really enjoy the 704.

After fishing the 703 and 733 a Lot the last couple weeks (after never having a Dobyns Champion) I'd def say go with the 704 over the 705. The 733 handles the 3/8oz and below really well and I haven't had any Hookset issues. I got the 3 power based off a friend's recommendation for that weight specifically so I would think the 4 power wouldn't be too much. Great rods for sure!

I have 6 703’s because of their versatility. I have 3 704’s because they are a little more specific. 704’s are great for Texas rigs and frogs.

Out of the two you're thinking about, 704C is perfect for the technique and weights you plan to throw with.

704 is what you want. 703 for weightless baits and the 705 for top water frogs. I like a 7ft rod length for top water frog fishing because I can walk the frog better with that length than a longer rod. For what you want to do, you will get more distance with the 704 because it has a better tip action than the 705.
I also have a 683 and 684 Dobyns Sierra rod that I use quite a bit. The 684 works great for me when I am skipping docks.
