If you have an attractive landscape maybe he wanted to show his wife some potential ideas Nice thought, but it’s average. Strange he had what appeared to be a nice camera, not a phone camera. Could have been anything I guess

They go back and compare it to previous photos to see if you have added any square footage or made any improvements.

That’s how google gets their street views Street view is done with vehicles obviously rigged with many external cameras. The vehicle does not stop in front of houses; it tends to move at a steady safe pace when traffic allows.

Now retired, but spent 38 years as an agent for a major insurance company. Depending on a few factors, we were required to take a photo of every home we insured. Had to take another photo of the same home every few years. Photo can show deteriorating roof or other maintenance
problems. It also shows "pride of ownership", yard care etc. This ^^^^^ I was contacted by my homeowners insurance about my rental property. Because the occupants had dogs in the yard that were wearing out the grass, I was supposed to do something about it. I did. I told the insurance folks to go f*** themselves.
