I need schooling on the use of a jack plate. I have a 97' Ranger 519 SVS. It has a Detwiler hydraulic jack plate that has not worked in the 7 years I've owned the boat. I am having some transom work done so when I pulled the engine I found the pump in the back of the hull. I have the pump and jack plate working fine now, but I don't know how to use it. If anybody wants to school me, or point me in the right direction, please do.
Thanks
Ty Burns

Find the height you run the best at. Mark that spot, because that's where it'll be 95% of the time.
The only time you'll move it is up when you're idling in a shallow snag rich area.
Down if you get into some major rough water.
Then back to your spot the rest of the time.
