In the market for a new trolling motor. One I have now is about 15 years old. It’s a motorguide great white 36V 100-something lb thrust. Want something just as strong but that will keep me on a spot with the anchor option. Would also like the remote as well. Any suggestions? My boat is 24’ CC and catches a lot of wind. Wouldn’t mind dropping down to a 24V 80lb if I new it would keep up. Thoughts?? Any help is appreciated.

Can't speak on thrust, but I just upgraded to a Minn Kota Terrova and absolutely love it. Anchor mode works perfectly, foot pedal works perfectly, and the remote works perfectly. Only thing about remote, it is a little touch sensitive.

With that long of a boat you will want to have 100+ lbs so most 36volt will be fine. As for brand buy one that works with your electronics. Lowrance = motorguide

Since you already have the batteries mounted in your boat for 36v stay with 36v. Too much trolling motor is near the problem that too little is!

For a 24' Center Console its probably best you stick with a 36v.

Just upgraded last month to minn kota terrva, 24 volt 80 pd thrust. Love it. No foot pedal, just remote. Mine is on 18.5 ft ranger. Will pull boat over 2 mph.

Thanks for the help fellas. Think I’m goons go with the minnkota terrova riptide 112 lb with the 60” shaft look at the force from garmin, 36v will be more than enough to hold that boat, I have one on a champion 202 @ 36v and it is more than enough. the remote is a breeze to figure out and use too.

I have a 24V-80lb thrust Minn Kota Terrova and love it. The spot lock in fantastic. I use it on a 20ft Kenner bay boat. I would go with a 36V-112lb If I were you. Get a long shaft too.

Stick with a 36 volt. Too much trolling motor is a lot better than not enough. I was out with my BIL a few weeks back. He has an 18 foot center console with a 12 volt TM. The wind picked up and it was plain as ever that his TM couldn't fight the wind. I told him so......

Thanks again First, and I'm not sure why more people don't ask the additional questions with regards to electronics, what graph do you own already? If it's Lowrance/Simrad...then look at the saltwater version of the Motorguide Xi5. I'd not get the autodeploy model for saltwater. I've had too many friends have problems with them due too corrosion from salt water. I have the Xi5 on my bay boat and fish upwards of 35 miles offshore on calm days. It's an absolute game changer...my anchor hasn't been out of the locker in the last 9 months since owning it. If you own Garmin electronics, then I'd go with Minn Kota. Minn Kota integrates with Garmin and Motorguide with Lowrance/Simrad. The ability to control the trolling motor via the graph is very helpful in bass fishing. Minn Kota has an advantage there for following a trail, while Motorguide, it will follow specific GPS waypoints you set up. Motorguide has a more precise spot lock. Neither Garmin or Lowrance trolling motors offer a saltwater version yet...so if it were me, I'd hold off on either of those.
