I grew up in the midwest catching and eating walleye on a regular basis. Moved to Texas in 2003. I've missed catching and eating walleye so much. I do get home every other year or so but not enough. I go ice fishing in northern Canada and eat them there, but it's not enough. I took my son to a Oklahoma lake a couple days ago we found a couple sauger! I don't think he's heard me hoot and hollar so loud before when I pulled the first sauger in and much to my delight he caught one too. It's a couple hour drive to get there but to catch and eat one of the best fish on planet Earth, i'll make that drive!! I dropped my phone in the lake or i'd share pictures

Walleye are some great table fare. How are the Sauger?

Were you specifically targeting the Sauger or was it a bonus catch?

Where in Oklahoma can one catch Sauger?
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Oh heck with it; I want to catch a saugeye. It's a hybrid created by crossing a female walleye with a male sauger.

Where in Oklahoma can one catch Sauger? Check the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation website. They list fish species by regions. Sauger/Walleye are listed in two of the regions. Thunderbird Lake in the central region and Canton in the Northwest region.

Gordon Lake in Iowa Park has saugeye in it. They were put in there to help control the crappie population a few years ago.

Amazing that a fishable population would survive during the summer there. Still have a few walleye left in Wheeler Branch Reservoir just outside Glen Rose Tx. This is right across the street from our house:

Closest thing around here to “shore lunch” of fried walleye while Canadian fishing? Saugeye in Abilene. Lake Kirby in town and Fort Phantom Hill just a little north of town.
