It’s a regular ole largemouth. At least from the picture. The mouth has bone would have to not extend beyond the eye to be a spot. Also, MUCH more spots below the lateral line and very little white belly.

yep rough patch, connected dorsal and I know the pic is hard to tell but the jawline ends at the eye, I say technical record because there is nothing recorded ever for a spotted bass in Joe Pool

Its Black....diamond design can be distinct on blacks but the lateral lines HAVE to be down on the belly further past midline to be a spot....

Difficult to make a definitive call on it with that photo, but if it had a tongue tooth patch and the jaw ended at the back of the eye, then I wouldn't argue with calling it at least a hybrid spot/largemouth. It doesn't look like a pure spotted bass to me, given that photo. The lakes I usually fish have good populations of both and it's very common to have tooth patches on fish that are clearly more largemouth than spotted bass.

I’m kicking myself for not really gettin a better pic of it, but I was pondering the idea it could be some kind of hybrid

Looks like a regular LMB, coming from relatively clear waters and with good markings.

just sayin .....
