I know that some may take offense to this and if it does my apologies. Do you all think everything going on will drive new and used boat prices down?

Nope not as long as people keep buying them.

I think new boats will start out with easy and long time low rate financing, like cars are doing now. Then factory layoffs, and shut downs, and more reduced selling prices. Also look for the market to get a lot of used boats for sale with take over payment prices if people dont get back to work soon.

With the economy we'll have for a year or so I'd guess used boats will get easier to buy.

Nope. Just easier to qualify for low interest loans with longer terms.

I do not believe that new boat prices will shift downward. There may be some typical spring incentives, but not much more no new. The ENTIRE bass boat industry doesn't really build a huge number of boats per year compared to the market size. LOTs of guys run 20 year old boats that would not think of running 20 year old tow vehicles. So, they keep them longer, and there will probably be enough buyers for the new ones. Economic impact will push more than the normal number of people to liquidate luxury items, so I do believe there will be an abundant supply of used boats as the dust settles and some find they have been left out.

The big issue is people buy these boats they can’t afford. Finance them for years, owe more than what a new one cost 4 years down the road because of interest. Vehicles are the same. Buy what you can pay off in Three to four years. Now I know some folk like the new and shining rig. Willing to trade in every few years and don’t mind the note.. go for it!! I want to retire! I don’t make millions. I work for an honest living. I drive a payed off truck. Fish out of a great paid off boat. And can afford to fix the little things that happen. To each his or her own.. boats cost a pile! Up keep is the issue most over look. Yes with work and the economy slowing boats will hit the market! I’ll be fishing, only worried about gas oil, and lures..

A lot more people have a lot of money than most realize. Thus, prices won't drop.

I don't agree. Prices on used cars are already coming down. Used boats here aren't moving much. I've been watching for a used Highlander for the wife and prices are down about 2K in the last month. I'm going to wait another month and I'm guessing prices will come down another K. New prices might not move as much as used, but when 1/6 people are unemployed not a lot of people buying and dealers will move inventory at cost just to have some cash flow. I guess we'll see. I don't follow the boat industry like cars, but when people start missing payments they're going to sell the boat before getting behind on the house. This isn't going to just magically get way better in the next 3-4 months. Some better, but hiring at corporate jobs is going to be on hold everywhere.

You beat me to the punch Greg I think there will be some folks in the oil industry unloading boats here soon. The oil patch is in a bad way now and can’t see it improving until 2022. I would look here on the forum and west texas Craigslist ads.

Just because the economy drops doesn't mean that manufacturers can build and sell their product for less. Now a dealer might make you a better deal in trying to move inventory under the conditions. Used boats might drop considerable as folks have been laid off can no longer afford their note. I look for the used market to get flooded but this just depends on how long this lasts.

Supply and Demand. Right now the Supply is high, Demand is Low, so Prices Should fall. HOWEVER, because of the further supply chain pressure the demand for parts to fulfil the Supply out paces demand. In the end it will probably be a WASH! My theory is the prices won't increase as quickly rather than a drop prices. In government parlance - a decrease in the increase is an overall price decrease.
