WAWI's post the other day about securing a bottle of Blanton's for his re-opening got me to thinking. What's the best bourbon you ever had? Not necessarily owned, just the best you've had the opportunity to drink. Also what would you like to try but haven't had the chance? For me, I'd have to say Col E.H. Taylor Single Barrel and George T. Stagg respectively.

I'm not a Bourbon drinker. But one of the more interesting bourbons I have had was back around 1991. It was a bottle of Old Forester, Bottled in Bond, 100 proof. I don't know how long they used to age it in a barrel back then but the bottle was still full and the State of Kentucky bond seal dated 1943 was still intact. And it had a matching 1943 State of Missouri tax stamp.

There was a girl in High School, she played hard to get for a long time.

But one night after drinking a little too much with her girlfriends...........

Not technically a bourbon, but I'm itching to try Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof 129 proof.

I bought a bottle of Jim Beam Double Oak Twice Barreled last week, have to say it was a good.

Had Blanton's and some other high end bourbons and none of them really got my attention. I'm pretty happy with Gentleman Jack with one cube of ice.

If we are just talking single malt..... I'd like to see what a 50 year old Macallan tastes like. I'm guessing Heaven in a bottle but I'm not spending $35K to find out.

One of my favorite would have to be the King Alex III from The Dalmore. I keep it for special occasions and it is just over the top delicious.

Jackson, this thread is Bourbon. You are talking Scotch. I have had several different Macallans and they are good but it does get to a point where they just aren't worth the crazy money.

I prayed hard to the porcelain gods when I was 17 after a night of bourbon consumption and I haven’t been able to even smell it since.
