Last year I was fishing Ray Roberts with a friend of mine. We were fishing a point about 150 yards from shore. I looked around the boat and noticed that the shad were super thick and flicking the top of the water. I didn't think that they were spawning because I have only seen that happen on the shoreline. The bass weren't cooperating so we decided to move. I floored it to get on pad but the boat would not come out of the hole. I thought that maybe I forgot to put the plug in at the ramp and the hull was full of water . Then I remembered that I had indeed put the plug in. I floored it again again. The boat struggled but I finally got her on plane. Then I noticed that my top end was about 10 mph less than normal. We headed to the ramp expecting to find a hole in the hull. When I inspected the boat I noticed silicone like substance all over my boat especially on the transom and jackplate. Then it hit me. Those shad were spawning and my boat was covered in eggs and sperm. I couldn't believe how much it slowed down the boat. I took it to the car wash and it was like trying to remove real silicone. I had to let it dry and scrub it off (several times ). I was curious if this has ever happened to anyone else

Hmmmmm, didn’t think to blame shad sperm on last time my boat wasn’t running quite right! JK(sort of). Definitely never considered this.....
