I tend to wear dark colored clothes for most of the year. Do you think fish can see the color of your clothes and know something is off? I have heard bright colors throw them off and won't bite. I know their eyesight is better than we think. But do your clothes matter?

I always walk up to banks gently, but are bright colored clothes scaring away fish, bass in particular? I have yet to test whether my green shirt is scaring away fish versus my all black shirt.

If you fish a lake like Fork where every bass probably sees a bass boat 3-5 times a day and is presented a lure the same time, fish likely will be less skittish about the color of shirt you're wearing. If you're talking about a brook trout in a clear mountain stream which rarely sees a human? I can attest that even the slightest shadow will shut down the bite, let alone bright colors. Water clarity, wind, time of day, body of water and types of fish all come into play. I'm ore worried about sounds in the boat than color. Slamming a lid shut, accidentally running a trolling motor into a log, etc have FAR more negative affects on fish than clothing.

Went to a seminar years ago at Barber Boats in Dallas that Denny Brauer, Guido Hibbdon, and David Fritz were at. Guido said if they allowed him to fish out of a camo boat he 100% would have. But to make it super simple for you, if you can see the fish, they can see you. I follow the rule NEVER fish into your shadow. That’s way more important. When I bed fish, if I’m in a tournament, and know I’ll be doing it, I’ll wear camo clothes. It might or might not work, but makes me feel good mentally. Lol. But shadow more important. Other than bed fishing, the rest of the time I pay zero attention to clothes color. Hope that helps you. Oh by the way he did say bottom of the boat color super important to him. He’d never get one painted bright, or with glitter in it. Since then I’ve noticed bottoms of bass boats usually painted gray, white, or black. I’d never buy a red bottom, or yellow, or bright glittery.

Skeet Reese, native to the California clear water lakes, fishes in a bright yellow boat, wearing bright yellow clothes and shoes, with bright yellow fishing rods.

I haven't paid much attention as to whether he changes the boat wrap and his attire when fishing the spawn, but I don't think he does. He won the 2009 Bassmaster Classic on the Red River with a bright yellow boat wrap in late February (late prespawn)

I think it makes absolutely no difference what t shirt you wear when you fish.

When fishing shallow or sight fishing, it's light based colors for me. The only issue is, my rig is dark w/ a black bottom. So I usually wear grey now to blend in and stay father away.

When fishing deep, I don't care and will fish wearing whatever I pull out the drawer. Speedos and thongs included...you're welcome for the visual.

Why do most bass boats have glitter?

Saw a 50th anniversary Ranger at Cabelas last year, $105,000. I asked the salesman why it cost so much, he said "well, it has 3 coats of glitter on it and was 50th anniversary edition" I asked how much next year and with no glitter.
