Fished 8:00-12:30 Saturday and 7:00-13:30 Sunday. Launched at 2-Mile Bridge West ramp. Water temp 71-73, stained/sandy. First time I've ever been on this lake. All of the bigger bass I caught were post-spawn.

Saturday: Super windy, went south to a protected creek area. First bite at 9:30, ended up with 4 caught, big of 5-9, lost one that was 5+. All the fish came from flooded woody brush in 3-4' of water within 50 yds of the opening of something (creek/cove/etc). T-rigged junebug brush hog.

Sunday: Zero wind, went north to see new territory. First bite at 10:00, ended up with 5 caught, 3x 3-pounders, 2 dinks, lost a 3-pounder and a 1.5. Also caught a 3-12 channel cat (thought I had a monster). Same pattern as saturday.

I had heard from multiple sources that Tawakoni was not a bass lake (known for catfish), but I had two really encouraging days IMO. If I'd have landed that other 5+ Saturday, I'd have had a 13-14lbs stringer on just 3 fish, and I was really just exploring somewhat blindly. Sunday was also encouraging, because it seemed like every bite was a good one, which is better than I can say of my recent trips to Fork. Anybody else have much luck on Tawakoni?

Lastly, it must be said that the crowds at the ramp were absolutely bonkers. I launched 5 mins before sunrise on Sunday and had to do a 10-point trailer turnaround just to park in somebody's yard. When I left there were easily 100 trucks/trailers/cars and people everywhere.

Solid post and pictures. Back in the 70s and 80s Tawakoni had coontail moss and was one of the top bass lakes in Texas. It is still a good bass lake just a little harder to find them now. You did a great job especially never being on the lake before. thumb

Love Tawakoni. When it's on, it's my favorite place to fish

The whole place looks super bassy. Lots of flooded wood, laydowns, even some grass here and there. I can imagine in the summer months it's probably pretty tough, though, as it doesn't appear to be overly deep.

Drew, were you catching them in the brush, or at the brush edge on the outside? curious where you put the bait initially. Thanks, great report.

Frank, the majority of the fish came in brush that was like 6-10' off the bank, so I just tried to pitch to the middle of the clumps if I could. Most of them were within the first 2' from where the bait landed, so I'd say they were pretty tight to the base of the brush clumps.

Ive caught a few bass there. I know a couple guys that can catch monsters there. I kinda quit going over there due to the how crazy the ramps have been lately.

We went yesterday and had a decent day. Best five would have gone somewhere between 18-20lbs. Caught fish guarding and fish on beds.
I like fishing there because it caters to my style...……..but, I know it is going to be either a grind for 5 or the chance to be epic - no in-between for me.

This time two. All those trailers you saw at the boat ramp were fishing for crappie under the two mile bridge are chasing whites/hybrids/stripers. How many other bass fisherman did you see while you were out.
