Due to weather and lake restrictions Sunday was the first time I got to fish this month. Decided to hit Lady Bird Lake (big surprise). Put in at Stephen F. Austin High School at about 6:30 and fished from the Congress Street Bridge to just shy of Red Bud Island. Lake was smooth as glass when I put in, by noon it was pretty choppy and my 4lb test mono was blowing around like spider web. Air temp was 56 F at 6:30, 73 by noon. Water was 69.8. Were quite a few fisherman out, and one rental place is open so there was also some SUP and rental kayak traffic, but not nearly what LBL would be like on a normal Sunday. Was a bit of current from about 7-10. (I think the Tom Miller Dam was generating.)

Overall a great day fishing. Caught 7 LMB (including one on my first cast as soon as the lure hit the water), and a mix of 41 Blue Gill and Long Ears. No real big ones. A guy casting a two pound Maine lobster on 1/4 rope (or maybe it was a 3/4 oz jig with a Rage Claw trailer on a baitcaster, was hard to tell) beat the heck out of my favorite spot for big gills before I got there. Caught the majority on a Strike King Bitsy Minnow until I hung my last one up in a branch, then switched to Gulp Minnows on a 1/64th OZ jig head and very small float, and Leo's Tiny Jig (which is a fish magnet!). All fish were released to fight another day.

Two more monsters (I'd guess a 4.5lb and a 7lb, I have really big hands grin )

Thanks Gitter.

Banker- I keep saying I'm going to fish the I 35 end of the Lake, but I always seen to end up heading toward Red Bud. I need to head east some week and see if I can find some Rios.

Laker- I haven't fished Travis. The problem is by the time the water is warm enough for good fishing it's warm enough for wake boats and jet skis, makes kayak fishing into too much of an adrenaline sport for my liking.

Gar- I finally got the hang of the tiny jig... 4lb test line, a very small float (the smallest trout magnet float) and it worked like a charm.
