I was there about two months ago. Had not been there in a number of years. The lake has changed a lot. No grass no pads (although it was pretty early in the year) and most of the timber is now gone. Two of us fished 5 hours and did not get a bite. Will be several more years before I go back. I'm sure it was just me. Someone else probably kill them there.

It's dead. It used to be a gem. I went there once last year and once the year before. Both times I said I would not be back. I have no plans on trying again anytime soon. It's a shame, used to be a beautiful lake full of pads and hydrilla. Just a mud hole now.

I caught a lot of good fish out of it growing up. Unfortunately the pads and grass aren’t in it any more and it stays a muddy mess.

Guessing that is the desired outcome by TPWD based on their history? Cooper, Purtis Creek, Austin, Cedar Creek, Gibbons Creek.........

added two. must be a new generation of "biologists" with lots of book knowledge and no common sense. if you destroy the basis of life in the ecosystem, you disrupt the WHOLE ecosystem. the vegetation is the basis of aquatic life, filtration, water quality, etc. Every lake declines horribly fast once the aquatic vegetation is destroyed. TPWD has done some great fish breeding and stocking in their in house lab tanks... that's all I can say that's positive about them.

I hate to bash TPW but its got to have been an all out campaign to get rid of weeds.

There was prolific grass in so many lakes in the late 90's early 2000's that just vanished

Anyone remember the main lake grass on Hubbard , it was insane good there.

High water wiped out most of the hydrilla on Sam Rayburn last year. An excessively dry summer can drop lake levels also below the depth grass normally grows in and kill it out. Too many grass carp can definitely can have the same impact as can spaying.

Whenever the TPWD “fishing report” reads: “grass carp good to 20lbs on dog food” another mud hole has been created..........
