Has anyone ever been fishing in any of the lakes or ponds at LBJ Grasslands? How is it? I was hoping to go up there for a weekend of hunting/camping/fishing. How’s the general area? What does everyone think of it?
Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Clear Lake, Black Creek, Cottonwood, and Rhodes Lake are all nice lakes with plenty of fish. Bass, crappie, catfish, and bluegill/bream. You can camp at any of them but I think Black creek may have a fee involved and not sure what facilities, if any, it has. The others are free but have no facilities of any kind so it's completely "roughing it". Lately, all the lakes up there have been unusually busy with everyone being off work I guess. I usually go to Clear lake during the week and usually there's no one there, but since the Covid "crisis", it's been really crowded even during the week. Also, bank fishing is kind of limited due to hydrilla along the shorelines. The warmer the water gets, the worse it gets until in the summer months you can't fish from shore at all. I recommend a canoe, kayak, or other small one man type boat if you have access to one. Even a float tube would work. Only way to find out if you'll like it is to give them a try and see what you think. Get out there and have fun!
